Our Story

From Factory Floors to Care Homes

Leng Hiang Catering was founded in 1991 with a straightforward brief: feed working people well, on time, every day. Our first contracts were in production factories and office buildings, where volume, consistency, and hygiene were non-negotiable. We also operated staff canteens for several of Singapore's major hotels during that period.

Over the following decade, we moved into more demanding environments - university halls, boarding schools, and eventually nursing homes and care facilities. Each sector raised the bar. Elderly residents have specific dietary needs. Boarding students eat three meals a day, every day of the school term. These clients do not forgive inconsistency.

Today, Leng Hiang operates full kitchen contracts across nursing homes, student hostels, and special needs facilities. We run both Chinese and Muslim kitchens, hold NEA certification across our operations, and source only from suppliers with valid documentation from primary production boards. The work is unglamorous. We think that is the point.

As Seen on CNA

Better Food for Nursing Home Residents

Channel NewsAsia featured Leng Hiang's work at Ren Ci Nursing Home, where we partnered with chefs to improve the quality, variety, and nutritional value of meals served to elderly residents.

The segment highlighted how institutional catering - often dismissed as functional rather than nourishing - can be meaningfully improved when operators take menu development seriously.

How We Operate

Standards That Are Not Optional

🎓

NEA-Certified Staff

Every team member completes NEA food hygiene training before their first shift. No exceptions.

👔

Professional Conduct

Staff are uniformed on duty and held to a clear standard of customer-friendliness. Presentation is part of the service.

🧼

Kitchen Cleanliness

All utensils and equipment are washed and sterilised after every cook cycle. Kitchen hygiene is audited by management, not left to habit.

🥬

Verified Sourcing

Raw materials are purchased only from suppliers holding valid documentation from primary production boards. No undocumented sources.

🍽️

Dual Kitchen Capability

We operate separate Chinese and Muslim kitchens across our institutional contracts, meeting the dietary requirements of Singapore's diverse population.

📋

Management Oversight

A dedicated manager monitors food freshness and supply levels at every service. Quality control is a named responsibility, not an assumption.
